Since the initial invite was sent out there have been a few updates to add now that we are officially 10 days away from heading to Yellowstone. I want to make sure that everyone has a crystal clear vision of our loose plan. Here is where we are with that loose plan:
Friday the 15th: Departing at 8AM from the Chevron on the North East corner of 2100 S. and 300 W. in SLC. We will be heading up I-15 for maybe 30-40 miles and then hopping of the freeway to hit two lane roads the rest of the way to the campground. We will be stopping at the Logan skatepark for a little session right around 11AM. After that we will blaze up north and stop for gas and thats about it. Once we get to Jackson we are going to try and hit Phelps Lake for a nice cool dip in the water via cliff jump as suggested by Jer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt4BpmMsasc. From there we will ride 15 minutes to arrive at Gros Ventre campground. This is a pretty barebones campsite nestled up to a river. The facilities are very limited, and by that I mean there is a bathroom. No Showers.
Day one Map
Saturday the 16th is reserved for sightseeing Yellowstone. If you haven't been, then you will not be let down. This place has some of the coolest roads and natural landscape that I have ever been around. There is no set in stone plan so everyone can cruise at their own pace.
Sunday the 17th we will depart the campsite in the AM. We will probably hit the Jackson skate park and then Idaho Falls with a straight shot back down I-15 home.
Anyone is welcome and you don't have to ride a bike to come either, all we ask is that you be respectful. We have a group camp site reserved on the south end of Grand Teton national park. However, it only houses a certain number of people so I need to get a loose headcount. This is the busiest, and most perfect, time of the year in the park so if you want to ensure a spot we need you to email us HERE .
A Few Things to Note:
- The site is under our name so please be respectful, considerate, and clean. If anyone thinks this is some drunkfest fueled with loud music, burnout contests, and fireworks, then do not come. This is meant to be a fun mellow camp trip with epic riding, beers by the fire, and an enjoyable environment.
- PBR will be providing us with beer(although not an endless amount) and BOLTS will be providing a decent amount of food on Friday and Saturday night. By food, I mean burgers and dogs, and by decent, I mean first come first serve. With that said I would recommend getting food in Jackson to bring back to the site if you want breakfast, lunch, or snacks.
- The campsite is exactly that, flat ground in the woods. It's $5 per night per person, I will more than likely wrangle up everyones money after they have arrived on Friday. No frills is what this place is all about so plan on packing to accomodate. There is a bathroom with cold water in the sink.
- The weather has been low 80's during the day and high 40's at night. Its gonna get chilly.
- There is a river that backs up to the campground thats at max capacity right now. I was planning on us being able to fish, but it will depend on what the water level does in the next week.
- If its been a minute since you have been camping I have put together a quick list of my must haves:
Tent (Available at POLERSTUFF.COM)
Sleeping Pad (Comes free with above tent!)
Sleeping Bag
Headlamp
Blade
Water Bottle
Wet Wipes
Headlamp
Pillow
Fire Kit
Rope/Paracord
Duct Tape
If you need to get anything, I highly recommend going to backcountry.com, they have it all!
Thats pretty much it. If anyone has any issues or questions/concerns then just shoot us an email. We look forward to seeing everyone next week.
